Assom Dragon

Adams

  • Hook - streamer hook 2X sizes 2 - 10 (usually) weighted
  • Thread - brown
  • Body - A strip of natural brown seal's fur or dyed brown rabbit fur on slin
  • Hackle - grizzly dyed brown

Comments - The fur strip is "palmered" from the bend up to near the eye.

 

Baitfish - Whitlock's Swimming

Adams

  • Hook - stainless steel - straight eye - 2/0 - 4
  • Thread - red
  • Weed Guard - heavy clear monofilament
  • Tail - four white and two grizzly saddle hackles with silver and pearl krystal flash
  • Sides - two white hackles short
  • Throat - red flashabou
  • Collar - white deer hair on the bottom natural deer hair on top
  • Head - orange then red deer hair spun and clipped to shape
  • Eyes - gold doll eyes

 

Bass Bugger - Yellow

Adams

  • Hook - standard stainless steel saltwater hooks sizes 1/0 - 6
  • Thread - yellow
  • Weed guard - heavy clear monofilament
  • Tail - yellow marabou
  • Legs - white rubber hackle
  • Body - yellow chenille
  • Eyes - silver hour glass eye painted yellow with black pupil

 

Black Ann Red Bass Bug

Adams

  • Hook - stinger sizes 2, 6, 10
  • Thread - black
  • Weed guard - heavy clear monofilament
  • Tail - two furnace saddle hackles, black abd red rubber hackle with two black hen sadddles-one on each side
  • Butt - black saddle hackle
  • Body - Red, orange, black and white deer hair-in that oder from the back to eye - spun and clipped
  • Legs - black rubber hackle
  • Eyes - red audible eyes

Canary Bass Bug

Adams

  • Hook - stinger 2, 6, 10
  • Thread - white
  • Weed Guard - heavy clear monofilament
  • Tail - two yellow hackles enveloped bytwo white hackles
  • Hackle - ight grizzly hackle
  • Legs - yellow rubber hackle
  • Body - two shades of yellow deer hair spun and clipped (lighter in rear)
  • Face - white deer hair spun and clipped
  • Eyes - medium audible eyes

Clouser's Crayfish

Adams

  • Hook - heavy wire 3X or 4X sizes 6 to 10
  • Thread - olive
  • Weight - two strips of lead wire - one on both sides of the hook
  • Antennae (tail) - pheasant tail fibers
  • Back (and tail) - olive furry foam
  • Claws - two hen mallard flanks with stems partially stripped and centers snipped out
  • Underside - pale grey yarn or dubbing
  • Legs - One ginger grizzly hackle palmered up the abdomen before the furry foam is folded forward from the bend
  • Rib - grey thread. There should be four. Place between turns of hackle

Dahlberg Diver - yellow & black

Adams

  • Hook -stinger hook sizes 2, 6, 10
  • Thread - yellow
  • Weed guard - heavy clear monofilament
  • Wings -black marabou
  • Sides - two black & whitegrizzly hackles enclosed by two yellow & black grizzly hackles, and crystal, yellow or black crystal flash (may combine) and white saddle hackle tips or pearl tinsel.
  • Topping - silver and gold flashabou and peacock herl
  • Collar - yellow & black deer hair
  • Head - black and yellow deer hair, spun and clipped to shape
  • Legs - white and black rubber legs

Damsel Dragon

Adams

  • Hook - stinger hook sizes 2, 6, 10
  • Thread - white
  • Rib - white thread
  • Weed guard - heavy clear monofilament
  • Body - natural light and dark bucktail (grey underhair with light tips) extended
  • Hackle - natural light and dark bucktail extended - spent
  • Eyes - yellow audible eyes

Eelworm

Adams

  • Hook - standard salmon streamer hook sizes 1/0 - 6
  • Thread - red
  • Weed guard - heavy clear monofilament
  • Tail - four black saddles hackles splayed
  • Body - black fuzzy wool yarn
  • Hackle - black saddle hackle, palmered over body
  • Eyes - silver bead chain

Comments - If a fuzzy wool for the body cannot be found, mohair can be substituted.

  • Thread - fl. green floss
  • Weed Guard - heavy clear monofilament
  • Tail - two lime saddle hackles, four dyed olive grizzly saddle hackles and lime krystal flash
  • Collar - lime green hackle
  • Wing - dark green deer hair
  • Legs - yellow and green rubber hackle
  • Head - green, black and yellow deer hair spun and clipped (in bands and mostly green)
  • Eyes - white audible eyes

Hairwater Pup - Black/purple

Adams

  • Hook - standard salmon streamer hook sizes 1/0 - 6
  • Thread - red
  • Weed guard - heavy clear monofilament
  • Tail - purple rabbit fur strip-also over the body
  • Rib - fine silver wire
  • Body - black rabbit dubbing
  • Collar - black deer hair
  • Head - black deer hair spun and clipped
  • Eyes - audible eyes blue

Frog - Wiggle Legs

Adams

  • Hook - stinger sizes 2 and 6
  • Thread - white
  • Rear legs - tied on with wire - hook shank cut-dark green bucktail over white single knotted for foot-then lacquered.
  • Body - predominately olive deer hair with bands of yellow and black with white under belly - all spun and clipped.
  • Front legs - four strands of white rubrer hackle in each leg - knotted
  • Eyes - medium yellow audible eyes

Jig-a-bugger, black

Adams

  • Hook - nymph/streamer 3X size 8
  • Thread - black
  • Tail - black rabbit fur with a few strands of black krystal flash
  • Body - black crystal chenille or opalescent ESTAZ
  • Hackle - black hackle palmered over the body
  • Eyes - silver hour glass eye painted pink with black pupil

Leech - Egg Sucking

Adams

    • Hook - streamer 6X 4 - 10
    • Thread - black
    • Tail - black marabou & a few strands of flash
    • Rib - silver wire
    • Body - black chenille & black saddle hackle (palmered over chenille)
    • Head - silver bead

    Comments - Mohair yarn is can substituted chenille then black palmered saddle hackle can be omitted. Can substitute gold wire and gold brass bead.

Leech (Wooly Bugger)

Adams

  • Hook - streamer 6X 4 - 10
  • Thread - black
  • Tail - black marabou & a few strands of flash
  • Rib - silver wire
  • Body - black chenille & black saddle hackle (palmered over chenille)
  • Head - red chenille

Comments - Mohair yarn is can substituted chenille then black palmered saddle hackle can be omitted. Can substitute gold wire.

Adams

  • Thread - black
  • Weed Guard - heavy clear monofilament
  • Tail - dark brown leather strip
  • Body - dark deer hair spun an clipped on the bottom
  • Ears - dark brown leather cut to shape
  • Collar - dark deer hair flared
  • Head - dark deer hair spun and clipped
  • Whiskers - dark moose body hair
  • Eyes - black waterproof marker

Perch

Adams

  • Hook - keel - 1/0 - 6
  • Thread - yellow single strand floss
  • Tail - red krystal flash
  • Body - pearl diamond braid (metallic braid)
  • Wing - geen marabou over yellow calftail
  • Sides - dyed yellow grizzly hackle
  • Topping - peacock herl strands
  • Collar - olive and orange deer hair
  • Head - yellow and olive deer hair spun and clipped
  • Eyes - audible eyes

Rabbit Strip Diver

Adams

  • Hook - stinger - 2, 6, 10
  • Thread - white
  • Weed Guard - heavy clear monofilament
  • Tail - yellow rabbit fur strip
  • Topping - gold flashabou
  • Collar - yellow deer hair spun and clipped on the bottom
  • Head - yellow deer hair spun and clipped to shape

Shad Fly - orange

Adams

  • Hook - nymph/streamer 3X size 2 - 6
  • Thread - fl. fire-orange single strand floss
  • Tail - fl. fire-orange floss - short
  • Body - fl. fire-orange floss
  • Eyes - silver bead chain

Comments - the green shad fly is tied the same except fl. green floss is used.
