What type of thread do I need?
If you’re starting out with mostly trout flies in sizes 4-20, your “Euro” 6/0 will work just fine. If you’re tying bass bugs, wooly
buggers, spinning hair and so on, our 3/0 is the ticket. Some folks tie all their dries with 8/0, but it takes some practice!

It is much, much stronger compared to threads of similar diameter! And stronger thread means
less build up & less frustration. It also means you’ll have less thread “bulk” to your flies. Our

H&H FLOSS & STRETCH
Our floss is ‘single stranded,’ which I particularly like because you can use it on a bobbin, which is dif-
ficult with the typical 4-stranded floss. The “Stretch” nylon is spooled for easy winding on a bobbin and
is the perfect body material for thread body flies like midges and other small flies. Made exclusively for
Hook & Hackle by Danville.
